Wes and I went on our first real date since Tucker was born. Yup, that's right, it took us 8 1/2 months.... I know, too long! Before last Friday, the only time we had left Tucker with a sitter was to go to work and four other times to attend a monthly bible study that we do. It's not that I didn't want to go out on a date with Wes. It's not that I didn't want to have a quiet dinner with my husband where I didn't have to gobble my food, while keeping Tucker entertained, but while I was working and leaving him with the sitter 5 days a week, I felt too guilty to leave him again.
Alas the wonders of working a school schedule! I have the summers off and have completely enjoyed spending every day, all day with my baby! So, with that, I finally felt alleviated of the guilt of leaving Tucker with someone to have dinner with my wonderful, patient, not-at-all-forgotten husband! We celebrated our 6-year wedding anniversary at one of our favorite spots, and it was wonderful to have a 2 1/2 hour uninterrupted conversation over a great meal! :)
Here we are upon returning home from a wonderful evening :)
And here's a picture of our babysitters, my brother, Luke, and his girlfriend, Shelby. (Actually, Shelby is our babysitter and Luke comes to hang out! LOL!) They did have a very easy job though! We had Tucker bathed, fed, and in his crib asleep before we left! All they really had to do was watch the monitor! But, they have watched Tucker a couple other times before when we went to our bible study and they (Shelby!) do a GREAT job! Tucker loves them and they love him! :)
I think now that I'm off work for a while and with me going to part time next school year (another post!), Wes and I should hopefully be enjoying a few more date nights! I do think that date nights are VERY important to a healthy marriage and are worth the time that might be missed with your baby. I have promised Wes that we will have more of them, for sure!
